After a rainy, dreary week, it appears we will see clear skies and mild temperatures here in Ocean City, Md this weekend. If you want to enjoy the beach before it gets too hot, or too crowded, this week is the perfect time for a spontaneous trip. For those of you that are coming to see us this weekend, here are some of the highlights of things to do:
– This weekend is the return of the 19th Annual Mako Tournament. Started in 1996 and synonymous with the start of the season each year, Mako Mania attracts talented anglers hoping to land a prize winning mako shark, bluefish, or thresher shark. – Sharing Ocean City with the best fishermen from around the region this weekend will be some of the best surfers from around the country as the 15th Annual Longboard Team Challenge also returns this weekend. Hosted by Castle in the Sand, this weekend long event will see teams from as far away as California compete to see who has the best longboard skills. The event kicks off with a Legends party on Friday at Barn 34 (6:30 start time) and continues all weekend on the beach in front of Castle in the Sand. – Senior Week is well underway in Ocean City, which means Play it Safe is back with more free events to help graduates safely enjoy their beach week. This week, check out beach karaoke on Sunday from 6-8pm on 3rd St., beach volleyball at 4:30pm on Monday- also on 3rd St., 3-on-3 basketball games at Northside Park on Wednesday beginning at 6pm, or any other of this week’s events. – Finally, the Clarion is planning a major celebration to honor the 100th anniversary of the U.S. Coast Guard. The event will take place June 19 from 6-9pm and will feature Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan andย Chief Steven W. Cantrell of the Coast Guard.
