Lisa Loeb: A Musical Journey Spanning Decades

Singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb recently sat down for an interview in anticipation of her upcoming performance at the Oceans Calling Festival in Ocean City, Maryland. Despite never having performed in Ocean City before, Loeb expressed a sense of familiarity with the area, having been born in Bethesda, Maryland.

Loeb, whose music career has spanned over three decades, shared her excitement about the upcoming festival and the 30th anniversary of her hit song, “Stay.” She reminisced about her musical influences growing up, which ranged from old-timey songs and classical music to rock legends like Queen and David Bowie.

When asked about her instrument of choice, the guitar, Loeb explained her preference for Taylor guitars, citing their ease of play, tuning stability, and sound quality. She also discussed her latest album, “With the Trees,” a collaboration with the band The Hollow Trees, which showcases a vintage, retro sound.

Loeb also touched on her creative process for music videos, sharing how she usually collaborates with a director while remaining closely involved in the editing and post-production. For the video for “A Doodlin’ Song,” she entrusted the direction to Tracy from The Hollow Trees, resulting in a quirky and vintage-inspired visual.

In addition to her music career, Loeb hosts a daily radio show on Sirius XM 90s on 9 and an interview segment called “Where They Are Now.” She also balances her busy schedule with being a mother to two children.

Loeb expressed her enthusiasm for the diverse lineup at the Oceans Calling Festival and her anticipation for performing on Sunday at the Carousel Stage.
