We know everything costs money when you come to Ocean City, well, except for the beach which, unlike other beach resorts in nearby states, is FREE for everyone. So we thought this guide to free parking might help stretch that budget just a little bit more. After all, we are sure you’d rather spend money on ice cream than parking!
If you’re here for the day, and just want to park your car and forget about it, try the West Ocean City Park and Ride facility. It’s FREE parking and there’s loads of it, and there’s a shuttle to and from the South Division Street Transit Center that’s also FREE*. Or you can take a walk over the Rt 50 Draw Bridge and enjoy the view while clocking up some steps. West Ocean City Park & Ride is seasonal, beginning in May and running intermittently into October. *On special events such as Springfest, Bikefest, OC Air Show, July 4th Weekend, Oceans Calling, Country Calling and Sunfest, there’s a $4 charge for the shuttle.
There is free parking downtown if you have time to look for it, get there early enough, and don’t mind walking a little. Bayside parking north of 4th Street along St Louis Ave is usually free, just be careful crossing the roads. There are some streets with restrictions, so please read the signs in case there’s a reason nobody is parked there. It’s an easy walk to the Boardwalk from there for most people.
On the Oceanside, you can park for FREE on Baltimore Avenue from around 11th street north, and on the side streets leading running East/West from around 9th street north. Again, make sure you read the signs just to make sure you’re in the free spot.
The parking lot at the Convention Center is FREE on a daily basis, but overnight parking is not allowed.
Take the bus! Leave the car at your hotel or condo and just jump on a bus. It’s almost liberating not to be tied down to cars, parking, time limits etc. The bus may not be free, but at $4 Ride-All-Day, it gets you from South Division Street Transit Center, to the North End Transit Center, and everywhere in between, all day long. That’s not a bad deal! Download the TransLoc Rider App for iPhone or Android, or click here for the mobile web map and track your bus in real time. Exact cash fare required. For senior citizens age 65 and over and disabled persons, it’s $2.00 Ride-All-Day. Children 42 inches in height and under, are free.
