The 3 Mile Ocean City Boardwalk

The Beach

Ocean City has miles of wide, white, sandy beaches that are free to the public.  From the Ocean City inlet at the southernmost end of the town across from Assateague Island, to the Delaware border, you can find unique locations all along the Ocean City beach.  Check out our Beach Guide for more information

Assateague Island

Assateague Island is home to both Chicoteague and Assateague.  This island is home to the world-famous wild ponies.  Please stay away, as they can kick and bite.  You will enjoy watching them roam the marshes and beaches of Assateague as they have done for generations.  Check out our Assateague Guide for entrance fees and camping information.

Amusements, Rides & Games, Arcades

Trimper Rides has an original 50′ carousel built by the Herschell-Spillman Company in upstate New York in 1912.  A similar carousel was also ordered for Coney Island, but that one burned long ago.  If you want to step back in time, then take a ride on this historic carousel – with or without a child to accompany you.   Jolly Roger also has some antique rides if you are looking for history.  Both parks have been in Ocean City for years, Trimpers since the late 1890s!   You will find the Haunted House on the Boardwalk was also built by a Trimper, this time Granville Trimper in 1964 has pulled generations of Ocean City goers through it’s dark passageways by train car.

Events

If you’re bringing the whole family to Ocean City, be sure to check out all the free activities and kids activities, headlined by the free events hosted by the town each week in season. This includes movies and concerts on the beach, light shows along the Boardwalk, Family Beach Olympics, fireworks, and Sundaes in the Park. There are headline events that return year after year like the Ocean City Air Show, Bike Week, Sunfest, Springfest and Winterfest.  There are also Shore Craft Beer festivals, weekly concerts during the summer and larger concerts and performances at the Convention Center.  View Upcoming Events

Watersports & Boating

The waters of Ocean City offer some of the most popular activities. Rent a pontoon boat or jet-ski, try parasailing, take a boat tour on the OC Bay Hopper or sail on the Alyosha.  Ocean City also offers excellent kayaking, paddle boarding and surfing. Offshore is a rich sportfish fishing ground.
